MPHS Chorus Boosters Inc. is a non-profit, 501 (c) 3, that supports the Chorus Department of Myers Park High School with development and financial support. We are a small group of parents/guardians of Chorus students, as well as Student Officers of the Mixed Chamber (Advanced) class. Please see attached Bylaws. Choral Dept Director Biography:
Julia Lathan holds the BM and MM degrees from UNCG. She comes to Myers Park HS from Randolph Middle School, where she taught chorus for ten years and began the handbell program. Randolph’s groups consistently received superior ratings, performed in the community, and were selected twice to perform as part of the prestigious CMS Showcase of the Arts. In 2018, Ms. Lathan was Randolph’s Teacher of the Year and the CMS Central Learning Zone teacher of the Year. Ms. Lathan began her career at Northwest School of the Arts, where she taught chorus, piano and musical theater. She also serves as Director of Music for Children and Youth at St. Stephen UMC. Ms. Lathan is the proud mom of two sons, one a rising high school senior, and the other a rising college junior. She is excited beyond “measure” to help build a “note”-worthy choral program at Myers Park!
